Eighteen rounds. Approximately €105.8 million across seed, pre-seed, and Series A. The week of 7–13 September is the densest ProYarn has tracked since returning from the summer lull — and the shape of it says something worth recording before Monday resets the clock.

France carried the week

Six French rounds totalling roughly €55.6 million — more than half the week's capital by a single country. The largest, Arlequin AI's €28 million Series A (Paris, co-led by Redalpine and OTB Ventures), was announced Thursday and fell through the wire's daily gaps; it surfaces here as the week's defining data point. Alongside it: Actionable ($10M/€8.6M, led by Hi inov, Paris), Olenbee (€7M, led by Go Capital, Rouen), Ed.ai (€5M Seed led by Bpifrance, Lyon), Tellia (€4.3M pre-seed led by Revent, Paris), and Outline ($3M/€2.74M Seed led by Founders Future, Paris).

Six companies, six different sectors — meal vouchers, enterprise AI, educational correction, agri-voice interfaces, financial planning. The only through-line is Paris and, at the margin, the profile of the founders: people who spent five or ten years in large French or international companies, identified a structural inefficiency from the inside, and left to fix it with a new product. That pattern — Nicolas Rieul at Criteo then Actionable, Arnaud Martenat at Sodexo then Olenbee, Hugo Micheron with academic geopolitics research then Arlequin AI — turned up repeatedly.

The rest of Europe

Twelve rounds totalling roughly €50.2 million from eight countries beyond France. Belgium produced the week's cleanest deep-tech story: IVEX, the KU Leuven spin-out that automates ADAS safety testing, closed a €5 million Series A from existing investors. Germany offered three rounds across climate and AI: FRYTE Mobility (€3.5M Seed, eTruck charging coordination), Furo (€3.44M, battery management software), and sci2sci (€1.2M pre-seed, AI data verification for regulated industries). Biorsaf (€5.2M, food compliance in Italy) and Cato (€6M Seed, public procurement AI in Milan) gave Italy two rounds. The week's most structurally interesting non-French company is arguably Veridue (€3.44M pre-seed, London) — automating the structured components of due diligence on renewable energy and data centre investments in a capital-allocation environment that cannot move fast enough.

Stage mix and investor activity

Stage labels were applied to roughly half the week's rounds. Four were confirmed Series A, six Seed, four pre-seed. Four arrived without a stage label from any source — ProYarn did not supply one. The biggest round of the week (Arlequin AI at €28M) wore its Series A label explicitly; the second-biggest (Actionable at €8.6M) did not stage-label at all — a notable asymmetry between the largest deal by capital and the one by profile.

Revent made two bets in one week: Tellia (voice AI for agricultural field teams) and FRYTE Mobility (coordination software for eTruck charging). Both are impact-oriented, both solve a data-capture or data-coordination bottleneck in sectors undergoing structural change, both are pre-revenue-scale at time of investment. One investor, one week, two infrastructure-software bets in adjacent parts of the climate economy. Bpifrance appeared in two rounds as well — Ed.ai's digital venture fund and Arlequin AI's defence innovation fund — underscoring the breadth of its mandate across commercial and strategic interests.

What the week actually was

The genuine theme — visible only in retrospect, which is the only way themes ever are — is that most of the week's money went to companies building the layer before the application. IVEX before automotive certification can scale. FRYTE before eTruck electrification becomes operationally viable. Veridue before renewable-energy capital allocation can move at the pace the moment demands. sci2sci before biopharma can submit AI-assisted regulatory filings with traceable provenance. Gravity Gardens before seed activation works economically in arable crops. Furo before battery economics can be optimised in real time.

That is not a theme the investors announced. It is a description of what they funded. Infrastructure rounds tend to be quieter than application rounds, and they tend to be stickier. Whether they are also better investments is the question the next three years will answer.
