Tellia raises €4.3M pre-seed to give farmers a voice interface for field data

A voice-first field data platform that lets farmers and agricultural teams submit records by phone call, voice note, SMS, WhatsApp, or email, and converts those inputs into structured agronomic data linked to specific fields, crops, plots, crews, and operations.

Tellia (Paris) has raised €4.3 million ($5 million) in a pre-seed round led by Revent, the Berlin-based impact venture firm, with participation from Grey Silo Ventures (the corporate VC arm of the Cereal Docks Group, an Italian agri-food company), Jeriko, and Fund F. Founded in 2024 by Coline Labadie de Faÿ (CEO) and Vincent Trastour (CTO) — who met through the Entrepreneur First programme — Tellia is building a voice and messaging interface for agricultural field data.

The problem Tellia addresses is structural: farm data capture happens in the field, under physical conditions where keyboards and touchscreens are impractical, and is typically performed by operators who are not hired for data-entry proficiency. The result, across most agricultural operations, is either underreported field data (workers stop logging when the friction is high) or inaccurate data (entries made in bulk at day's end from memory). Either outcome degrades the agronomic models and compliance documentation that larger farm operations depend on.

The voice layer

Tellia's platform accepts inputs from phone calls, voice notes, SMS, WhatsApp, and email — any channel that farm workers already use — and converts those unstructured inputs into structured records linked to specific fields, plots, crops, crew members, and operations. The structured output is available via API for downstream integration with farm management software, ERP systems, and agronomic analysis platforms. The interface is multilingual and does not require any training of the worker beyond knowing which phone number to call or message.

The technology is built on a large language model that interprets agricultural context — a worker saying "sprayed parcel 4A with product X at 200 litres per hectare this morning" should generate a complete, properly attributed operation record without requiring the worker to think about field identifiers, product codes, or timestamps. Getting that interpretation right at the specificity that regulatory compliance and agronomic models require is the core technical challenge.

The company reports 80% daily active usage among field teams within two months of onboarding — a high adoption rate that suggests the voice interface is genuinely lower-friction than the alternatives it replaces. ProYarn notes that adoption metrics within two months are early, and retention over longer operational periods (with seasonal variation, staff turnover, and platform updates) is the relevant measure.

Why Revent leads

Revent is a Berlin-based impact VC that focuses on tech-for-good at scale — its portfolio spans climate, health, and social systems. Agricultural data infrastructure fits within a sustainability thesis if it enables precision agriculture at scale: better crop records support more accurate input application, which reduces chemical and water use. The corporate VC participation from Grey Silo Ventures is notable: Cereal Docks is a major European agri-food processor, and its involvement suggests Tellia's data capture is being evaluated as infrastructure for the supply chain as well as the farm gate.

The next phase is an agentic API layer that allows agricultural software vendors to embed Tellia's voice capture directly inside their own products. This is the strategic pivot from standalone app to embedded infrastructure — the kind of structural position that creates defensibility through distribution rather than through features. Whether Tellia secures those integrations at scale determines whether the company's network effect is real.
