Veridue raises €3.44M pre-seed to run AI due diligence on renewable energy and data centre deals
An AI-native due diligence and deal-screening platform for renewable energy and data centre investments, generating project maturity analyses and investment readiness reports within hours.
“The infrastructure Europe needs — renewables, data centres, grid capacity — represents one of the most critical buildouts of our generation. Capital is ready. Projects are in the pipeline. What's been missing is the ability to move deals at the pace the moment demands.”
Veridue (London) has raised €3.44 million ($4 million) in a pre-seed round led by Episode 1 Ventures, with participation from High-Tech Gründerfonds (HTGF) and Pi Labs. Named angels include Cameron Hepburn (co-founder of Aurora Energy Research) and Jeremy Palmer (former CEO of QuantumBlack, the McKinsey data science unit). Founded in 2024 by Daniel Csonth (CEO, former McKinsey energy investment advisor) and Xander van den Eelaart (former SCOR data science lead), the company is building AI-native due diligence infrastructure for the infrastructure investment market.
The target workflow is specific: an investor or developer evaluating a renewable energy asset or data centre project currently spends weeks or months running due diligence across technical, regulatory, financial, and environmental dimensions. Much of that work is structured and repeatable — site data, grid connection status, planning permission status, land title, technology specification, financial model review — and yet is typically done by consultants working from templates at significant cost and significant time. Veridue automates the structured portions.
What the platform does
Veridue's product combines document ingestion (planning documents, grid connection agreements, environmental assessments, financial models) with data sources (grid status, regulatory databases, satellite imagery, market pricing) to produce what the company calls an investment readiness report — a structured assessment of a project's maturity across the dimensions an investment committee needs to clear before moving to a term sheet. The process that takes a consulting team weeks is compressed, according to the company, to hours.
The angel participation from Cameron Hepburn (whose Aurora Energy Research is one of the UK's most respected energy analytics firms) and Jeremy Palmer (whose QuantumBlack built data science infrastructure for the financial sector) is a signal of domain credibility: both have direct experience of the inefficiency that Veridue is trying to fix, and both chose to participate in the round.
Timo Bertsch, Investment Manager at HTGF: "The infrastructure Europe needs — renewables, data centres, grid capacity — represents one of the most critical buildouts of our generation. Capital is ready. Projects are in the pipeline. What's been missing is the ability to move deals at the pace the moment demands."
The investor mix
Episode 1 Ventures has previously backed Ossprey — a cybersecurity startup building automated scanning for open-source packages. The firm's consistent pattern is early-stage bets on AI applied to processes that previously required specialist human review: code security at scale, now energy investment at scale. Pi Labs, a real-assets and proptech VC, brings a perspective on infrastructure that extends from built-environment assets into energy and data infrastructure — a portfolio expansion consistent with where institutional capital is flowing. HTGF, the German state-backed seed investor, adds a continental dimension to what is currently a UK-headquartered company.
The use of funds is focused on platform rollout and go-to-market — building the integrations with data sources and document systems that make the product work at sufficient breadth to be useful to an investment firm's full deal flow, rather than a selective subset.
