The wire — 19 October 2026
Two separate strands today — six rounds from six countries, no single theme, though two clusters are visible if you look for them.
The first: climate infrastructure getting serious money. Epyr (Paris, €15M, SlateVC lead) converts cheap off-peak electricity into industrial steam via firebricks — a physical solution to the industrial heat decarbonisation problem that no software layer can substitute. Ambio (Helsinki, €5.1M seed, b2venture lead) is a principal buyer in recycled plastics, building a quality-prediction engine that makes the material trustworthy enough for manufacturers to actually use. Neither company is selling AI software. Both are taking the delivery risk themselves and building a proprietary dataset that gets more valuable with each transaction. That is a different risk profile than SaaS, and a different class of investor relationship: Lifeline Ventures re-invested in Ambio after the seed; AENU and Daphni doubled down from Epyr's pre-seed. Early backers staying in is a stronger signal than a new name at a higher valuation.
The second: AI execution, not AI tools. Duvo (Prague, €28.7M Series A, Balderton Capital lead) maps the undocumented process knowledge that standard automation misses, then runs those processes via agents across ERP systems, inboxes, and supplier portals. AlloBrain (Paris, $7M / approx. €6.3M seed, Varsity lead) is the equivalent layer for contact centres — real-time guidance for human agents during live calls, not a bot that replaces them. Both companies are solving the same structural problem from different angles: the enterprise has more process intelligence locked in people's heads than it has documented anywhere. The companies that can extract and execute that implicit knowledge are building something closer to institutional memory than software.
The remaining two rounds share neither cluster. Wavo (Lyon, €10M, Eurazeo lead) finances SME inventory by buying it outright — no debt, no interest, no balance-sheet impact for the client — converting stock illiquidity into working capital. Stage unstated; Eurazeo's presence confirms the commercial fundamentals are real. GasLab (Amsterdam, $1M / approx. €0.92M pre-seed) is building a generative music platform with a proprietary attribution system that pays artists on every generated track; the platform is still in private testing, and the round is explicitly proof-of-concept capital.
All six rounds are carry-forwards from the 13–16 October window, confirmed across multiple independent sources before publication. Epyr was first noted in the 13 October brief and explicitly held in the 18 October brief pending additional detail; the remaining five were not previously covered.
