Solvera raises €5.62M pre-seed to operate as an AI-native engineering firm for construction MEP
An Oslo-based AI-native engineering firm that delivers MEP (mechanical, electrical, plumbing) design for construction projects, billing for completed design outcomes rather than software licences or consulting hours.
Solvera (Oslo) has raised €5.62M — approximately $6.3M — in a pre-seed round. Seedcamp leads, alongside Construct Venture, Inception Fund, Momentum, Obos Ventures, PSV Tech, Sondo, and The Nordic Web Ventures. Angels include Anders Kvåle and Håvard Haukeland, co-founders of Spacemaker, the Norwegian AI architectural design company acquired by Autodesk in 2020 for $240M.
The company was founded in July 2026 by Arif Mirza, Pål Rasmussen, and Thorvald Thorsnes. Within three months of incorporation, it reached approximately $1M in contracted revenue, with commercial work delivered for Norwegian contractor Betonmast.
What Solvera is — and what it is not
Solvera operates in MEP engineering: mechanical, electrical, and plumbing design for construction projects. These are the systems hidden inside the walls and ceilings of every building, and they account for 20–40% of total construction costs depending on building type. MEP design is typically delivered by specialist consulting firms on a time-and-materials model.
Solvera's model is different in two ways. First, it bills for design outcomes rather than consulting hours or software licences — a unit economics claim that depends on AI making the design process significantly faster than human-only workflows. Second, it describes itself as an "AI-native engineering firm" rather than an "AI tool for engineers": the product and the firm are the same entity, not a platform sold to third parties.
The round and what it funds
With nine employees, the £5.62M closes three priorities. First, hire engineers and AI developers in Oslo. Second, open a London office — the UK construction market is both larger and earlier in its AI adoption cycle than Norway. Third, develop the AI platform itself, which currently enables faster MEP design delivery but has not been described in technical detail.
Seedcamp's involvement is notable in context: the fund led Embedd's €2.3M pre-seed in July 2026, a different physical AI application (semiconductor integration). The pattern suggests an intentional Seedcamp thesis around AI doing technical engineering work end-to-end, not just assisting it.
The Spacemaker angels add specific signal. Kvåle and Haukeland built and sold an AI-for-architecture company; their participation here says they believe construction AI is at a comparable inflection point for MEP that Spacemaker reached for architectural design in the mid-2010s. Autodesk paid $240M for that bet.
