PageMind raises €1.2M to help e-commerce brands survive the AI-search shift
A Barcelona AI platform that helps e-commerce businesses optimise product content — descriptions, buying guides, FAQs, comparison pages — for discovery by AI-powered search systems like ChatGPT and Gemini, which recommend products rather than returning links to product pages.
“Traffic no longer depends exclusively on traditional search engines or performance marketing campaigns, but increasingly on AI systems that interpret, recommend and synthesise information from multiple sources. PageMind was created to help e-commerce businesses adapt to this new paradigm and turn it into a competitive advantage.”
PageMind (Barcelona) has raised €1.2 million led by 4Founders Capital, with participation from David Martín (CEO, Tradeinn) and Javier Pérez-Tenessa (co-founder, 4Founders Capital and eDreams). The company was founded by Jaume Portell and builds an AI platform that helps e-commerce businesses structure product content for discovery by AI-powered search systems.
The problem PageMind is solving
E-commerce product discovery has rested on a stable duopoly for two decades: Google search and performance marketing. Both operate on the same underlying assumption — a consumer types a query, receives a ranked list of links, and follows one to a product page. AI-native discovery systems break that model.
ChatGPT, Gemini, and Perplexity do not return lists of links. They synthesise answers, recommend specific products by name, and draw on structured product information to construct those recommendations. A product page optimised for Google's page-rank algorithm is not automatically optimised for a Gemini recommendation. The catalogue infrastructure that powers most European e-commerce — product descriptions written for human browsers, FAQs structured for SEO — is not built for the AI intermediation layer that is now carrying a growing share of product discovery.
PageMind's platform addresses that gap directly. It analyses consumer behaviour and search intent to generate product descriptions, buying guides, comparison pages, and FAQs structured in a format that AI search systems can interpret and surface. It also deploys conversational AI assistants on e-commerce sites and tracks which product content drives discovery and conversion across both traditional and AI channels.
"Traffic no longer depends exclusively on traditional search engines or performance marketing campaigns, but increasingly on AI systems that interpret, recommend and synthesise information from multiple sources," said Jaume Portell, founder and CEO. "PageMind was created to help e-commerce businesses adapt to this new paradigm and turn it into a competitive advantage."
Operator-heavy cap table, US target
4Founders Capital — an early-stage Southern European fund focused on B2B SaaS — led the round. The participation of David Martín (CEO, Tradeinn) is strategically relevant: Tradeinn operates 17 specialist sports retail stores across multiple markets and manages the kind of large, multilingual product catalogue that exposes AI search optimisation gaps most visibly. His presence on the cap table is closer to a design-partner anchor than a passive financial bet.
Javier Pérez-Tenessa, co-founder of eDreams — one of Europe's largest online travel agencies — adds a second operator signal, extending the strategic relevance into travel and experience commerce.
The €1.2M is compact for the stated ambition. PageMind plans to develop the platform further, expand its team, and enter the US market — where e-commerce catalogues are larger and the gap between AI search adoption and AI-ready product content is wider than in Spain. Whether the product can establish a paying US customer base within this funding cycle is the central question for the next 18 months. The structural risk is platform dependency: if ChatGPT or Gemini change how they surface product recommendations, or if Google rolls out comparable optimisation tooling natively through Search Console, the moat narrows quickly. The operator investors suggest the problem is real; the runway suggests the execution has to be fast.
