Copenhagen's Aisel Health raises €1.7M Pre-Seed to build the AI operating system psychiatry has been working without

Aisel Health (Copenhagen) has raised €1.7 million in a Pre-Seed round led by Caesar Ventures, with participation from Nordic Web Ventures, LifeX, and Angel Invest, plus returning backers Rockstart and EIFO (the Danish Export and Investment Fund). The company was founded in 2024 by Augusta Klingsten Peytz (CEO) and Christian Houen (CPO).

The product is an AI operating system built specifically for psychiatric clinical workflows. At point of care — a consultation typically thirty minutes or less — it surfaces structured context from a patient's prior history: interview recordings, existing clinical documents, patient-reported accounts, and case notes from previous treating clinicians. The system converts those inputs into contextual insights for the psychiatrist rather than leaving the clinician to manually trawl fragmented records. By design, no patient data is used to train models — a GDPR-compliance constraint built into the architecture from inception rather than retrofitted later.

The gap that psychiatry leaves

Clinical AI has developed unevenly by speciality. Radiology, pathology, and cardiology have attracted the most investment, because imaging and numeric data are precisely the inputs that machine learning handles well. Psychiatry runs on none of those inputs. There is no scan to classify, no blood panel to trend, no standardised measurement that maps cleanly onto a billing code. What psychiatry has is language: unstructured, variable in format, often fragmented across multiple institutions, and almost never in a form that allows rapid synthesis at the start of a new consultation.

That gap is precisely where the current generation of large language models is strongest. Peytz's stated position on the product's design is deliberate: "Psychiatry doesn't need more generic technology bolted onto an already overburdened workflow. It needs a product built around the realities of psychiatric care." The claim is that a product built around the consultation — context surfaced at the right moment, in the right format, for a clinician under time pressure — is structurally different from a general-purpose AI assistant deployed in a clinical setting.

UK private psychiatry as the first international market

The capital will fund team growth on the clinical and engineering side, and a UK market entry targeting private psychiatry, where the company reports an active commercial pipeline. The UK private psychiatry market is under pressure: NHS waiting lists for assessment now run to months or years in most regions, which has driven the growth of a parallel private market that is beginning to seek clinical technology to manage higher patient volumes without proportional staff increases. Aisel's product positioning — clinical context delivered at the consultation level, not at the administrative level — addresses the specific pain of psychiatrists managing new patients with complex prior histories in limited appointment windows.

The Pre-Seed is explicitly a bridge to a planned Seed round. The evidence the Seed will require is: contracted paying customers in both Denmark and UK, a demonstrated reduction in consultation preparation time that clinicians will report, and a clear answer to the regulatory question of what it means, in practice, to deploy an AI system in clinical settings under the EU AI Act's high-risk classification framework. The architecture addresses the data sovereignty piece; the clinical classification piece is still ahead.
