Aavalynx raises €1.75M Pre-Seed to treat corporate disputes as a financial risk category, not a legal cost
A London legaltech startup building an AI-native intelligence platform that helps enterprises understand, manage, and optimise their dispute exposures in real time — before disputes become entrenched.
“Current AI tools, by and large, improve lawyer efficiency. But efficiency is not good enough. Generic LLM models cannot address the unique complexities of a sector like dispute resolution. The fact is that good tools make disputes efficient, but great ones make them disappear. Even affirmative litigation (for a tech company pushing licence fees) should be as short and impactful as possible.”
Aavalynx (London) has raised €1.75 million (£1.5 million) in a Pre-Seed round led by Omega Ventures, with Two Ravens (West Coast) and a group of angel investors — including senior law firm partners and a former Amazon European head — also participating. The company was founded in 2023 by Hanna Roos, a high-profile dispute resolution lawyer turned founder.
The problem: disputes managed as legal events, not financial risk
Disputes have traditionally been one of the biggest revenue losses for enterprises, collectively costing hundreds of millions and running for decades. Despite the scale of this exposure, organisations still lack structured data and tools to analyse dispute portfolios systematically, identify emerging trends, or forecast outcomes with accuracy. The result: heavy dependence on external law firms for strategic decision-making — under hourly billing or capped-fee structures that don't fully align firm incentives with client objectives.
Aavalynx's argument is that classic law firm models are not equipped to provide a holistic risk assessment — for example, the impact on reputation and customer trust. When disputes are managed as legal events rather than financial risk, they run longer, cost more, and erode business relationships in ways that don't appear on the invoice.
Sisu: dispute intelligence at the enterprise level
Aavalynx's platform, Sisu, is an AI-native dispute resolution system that supports every phase of a case, from early assessment to hearings. It automates repetitive tasks — chronology building, document browsing, metadata extraction — while enabling legal teams, law firms, and arbitrators to structure, analyse, and interrogate dispute data at scale.
The company's central claim is that its AI can give organisations the data and visibility to intervene earlier in the lifecycle of a dispute, where the financial impact is greatest. That shifts the operating posture from reactive firefighting to proactive risk management. Early data, the company says, shows an ROI of approximately 30x in saved damages, legal fees, and interest — rising to as much as 200x when rescued commercial opportunities are included.
"Our focus is on giving companies the data and visibility to make better decisions earlier in the lifecycle of a dispute, where the financial impact is greatest," said Roos. "If clients can better understand their data, dispute length and cost won't run wild."
Birgir Ragnarsson, Founding Partner at Omega Ventures, framed the Aavalynx thesis explicitly against the efficiency plays that have dominated legal AI investment: "Aavalynx is built around a more impactful premise: that the primary challenge for large organisations is not efficiency alone, but the ability to understand and manage disputes as a financial risk. As the legal AI market matures, the winners will be the solutions that can demonstrate clear commercial impact."
The Pre-Seed funds product development and team expansion, with Aavalynx taking a targeted approach to its investor base — aligning with partners who bring sector expertise and direct access to enterprise accounts rather than raising at maximum velocity.
