The wire — 29 July 2026

Four rounds from Tuesday 28 July cleared two-source verification after yesterday's edition had run. They share a date and nothing else — no sector pattern, no geography cluster, no investor thread. A quantum hardware spinout from ETH Zürich, a 22-year-old Bulgarian software company taking its first institutional round, a London femtech company whose clinical trial data is the actual story, and a Munich freight AI startup at the very beginning of its commercial life. None will be forced into the same sentence.

ZuriQ (Zürich, €22.4 million, Seed; Quantonation lead, Forward.one, Extantia, Firgun Ventures) is an ETH Zürich spinout building natively two-dimensional trapped-ion quantum processors, co-founded by Dr. Pavel Hrmo (CEO), Dr. Tobias Sägesser, and Dr. Shreyans Jain. The architecture holds ions in a 2D plane rather than a linear chain, which the company argues allows qubit count to scale with chip area rather than linearly along a line — removing the ceiling it claims is shared by all conventional trapped-ion and superconducting designs. Its current demonstrator is a 3×3 nine-ion array. The €22.4M funds the engineering step from that demonstrator toward hundreds of qubits per chip, in partnership with Infineon as manufacturer. The team has grown from four to 18 people since a 2025 pre-seed. Quantonation, one of the few specialist quantum VCs with the physics depth to evaluate competing architectures, led the round.

Tiger Technology (Sofia, €8.7 million / $10 million, Series A, initial closing; TCEE Fund IV / 3TS Capital Partners lead, TDJ, Endeavor Catalyst, Impetus, MFG Invest) was founded in 2004 by Alexander Lefterov (CTO) and is led today by Iravan Hira (CEO). It is the company's first institutional round, raised 22 years after founding. Tiger Bridge, its flagship product, installs as a transparent control layer over customers' existing on-premises and cloud storage — continuously managing unstructured data across both environments without requiring migration or operational disruption. Over 100 petabytes under management across transport, media, construction, and government clients. The commercial catalyst is AI data readiness: enterprises need decades of accumulated unstructured data accessible to LLM infrastructure, and Tiger Bridge addresses that migration without the disruption. The "initial closing" language suggests the round may grow beyond €8.7M.

DITTO (London, €5.2 million, Seed; FoodLabs lead, EKA Ventures returning) was founded in 2024 by Alice van der Schoot (co-founder and Chief Scientist, neuroscientist and nutrition scientist) and Adam Kugler (co-founder, ex-L'Oréal Brand Director). The product is Premenstrual Daily, a PMS and PMDD supplement using beadlet biotechnology for timed nutrient delivery. The clinical differentiation: a proprietary trial across 40 women over three full menstrual cycles showed 88% with significantly reduced symptoms. By pharmaceutical standards, n=40 is a pilot; in the supplement market, it is more evidence than most products will ever have. FoodLabs previously led Aardaia's oversubscribed Seed, applying the same evidence-first thesis to crop science; this is the same conviction applied to consumer health. EKA Ventures returns, having appeared in Axle Energy's Series A. A community of 300,000 women anchors the distribution and the research pipeline simultaneously.

5U AI (Munich, $3.2 million / approximately €2.9 million, Pre-Seed; Emerge Capital lead) was founded in 2025 by Yagiz Abik (CEO) and Fehmi Şener, both TU Munich graduates, to build AI workers for European freight forwarders. The platform automates quoting, booking, shipment tracking, and invoice reconciliation; a Context Layer records the reasoning behind each AI decision so institutional knowledge accumulates rather than disappears with the person who held it. Already live with TCI International Logistics. The angel syndicate — senior executives from DHL, GEODIS, DSV, Maersk, and Ceva — is the round's most significant signal: the industry's largest players are individually endorsing the product before it has achieved meaningful scale.

ZuriQ (Zürich, €22.4M, Seed; Quantonation). Tiger Technology (Sofia, €8.7M, Series A, initial closing; 3TS Capital Partners). DITTO (London, €5.2M, Seed; FoodLabs). 5U AI (Munich, ~€2.9M, Pre-Seed; Emerge Capital).
