Visoid raises €2.2M Seed to bring AI rendering inside architecture's 30-year-old workflow

Visoid (Oslo) has raised €2.16 million / $2.5 million in a Seed round led by Skyfall Ventures, with existing investors StartupLab, OBOS, and Antler returning alongside new backers Farvatn and byFounders Angel Collective. The company was co-founded in 2023 by Mark Szoke (CEO), a former architect, and Joachim Holwech (CPO), a serial entrepreneur. The team stands at nine people and expects to roughly double in size by year-end.

The problem with rendering

Architecture has a rendering bottleneck that is less about software quality and more about workflow sequencing. The standard process requires a 3D model to exit the BIM environment — Revit, ArchiCAD, SketchUp — be imported into a separate renderer, configured with materials and lighting, and then left to process. For a single image, that cycle runs hours. For a client meeting requiring six design options, it runs into the work of days, and typically falls to a specialized visualization team rather than the project architect.

Visoid sits inside the existing 3D model. Its AI layer reads the geometry, infers spatial context and materials, and generates high-quality visualisations in minutes — without requiring architects to leave their current software or adopt a separate pipeline. "Architecture requires much more than beautiful images," said Holwech. "Architects need AI that understands their models, preserves design intent and fits naturally into professional workflows." The design-intent claim matters: a render that interprets the model rather than faithfully representing it creates client confusion and rework, which erases the time saving.

Named clients at the Seed stage include OMA, LEO A DALY, Sweco Group, and Nordic Office of Architecture — four firms with different geographies and project types, which suggests the platform is not optimized for a single niche.

Skyfall's second Nordic AI bet

Skyfall Ventures' lead position is context worth noting. The fund participated — alongside SuperSeed and Veriten — in HIVE Autonomy's pre-Series A in July, backing a physical AI company building universal control systems for industrial machines. Visoid and HIVE are unrelated in application; what connects them is Skyfall's consistent pattern: technical AI companies solving high-friction, slow-to-change workflows in industries where software adoption has historically been sticky and where the prior tooling is decades old. Architecture and heavy industry both fit.

"Mark and Joachim combine deep domain expertise with serious technical depth in AI and machine learning, and a commercial instinct that comes naturally to them," said Preben Songe-Møller, Partner and co-founder at Skyfall.

The Seed capital funds three tracks in parallel: team growth toward roughly eighteen people, expanded AI capabilities for new architectural workflow types, and international market development beyond the Nordic base.

The self-sell and its limits

Szoke's framing is an honest early signal: "We don't need to sell it to them, they simply want it themselves." Individual-architect pull is the best possible early-traction indicator — and also the specific place where many professional software companies stall. Firms where one person can download and use a tool in an afternoon are structurally different from firms where procurement requires an IT security audit, a data processing agreement, and multi-seat pricing. Visoid has demonstrated the former convincingly. The test on this capital is the latter, without losing the workflow simplicity that made the former happen so fast.
