Paris-based Uncovr has raised €6 million ($7 million) in seed funding led by Index Ventures, with Seedcamp, Frst, No Label Ventures and Entrepreneurs First joining, alongside operator-angels including Jean Nehme (founder of Digital Surgery), Othman Laraki (CEO of Color Health) and Charlie Songhurst.

Reading the operating room

Today, the record of an operation is written after it — from memory and notes, often hours later. That gap costs accuracy and money: detail goes missing, and billable steps go uncoded. Uncovr's platform analyses surgical and endoscopic video directly, automatically generating the operative report and the procedural coding from what actually happened on the table.

In co-founder and CEO Ines Iraki's framing, the company is taking the reality of the operating room and turning it into something that can be reliably captured and used — for the clinical record, and for the billing that depends on it.

The ROI is the pitch

The numbers Uncovr cites make the commercial case directly. Across its deployments it says it found missed billable steps in 16% of procedures and a roughly 10% reimbursement gap — money hospitals had earned but failed to capture. It reports a pipeline of 400 operating rooms and thousands of hours of surgery analysed, with operations spanning Paris and New York.

The founding team pairs technical and clinical depth — Iraki, CTO Johann Diep, and medical co-founder Professor Eric Vibert — which matters in a domain where a wrong inference is a patient-safety and compliance problem, not just a bug. Clinical AI is one of the hardest early-stage categories to fund, slow to validate and heavily regulated; Index Ventures leading the seed is a sign that a documentation-and-billing wedge, with a measurable payback, is where investors are willing to enter it.
