Shadow Santé raises €2.5M to automate carbon and energy management for French hospitals

Shadow Santé (Sophia Antipolis) has raised €2.5 million from Good Only Ventures, Impact Seed Ventures, Paris Business Angels, Provence Angels, Angels Santé, and Caisse d'Épargne Côte d'Azur. The company develops environmental management software for healthcare establishments — hospitals, clinics, and care facilities — automating the carbon accounting, energy monitoring, and waste tracking that French healthcare providers are required to produce under national environmental reporting obligations. The stage was not disclosed.

The problem it solves

French healthcare establishments are among the country's most energy-intensive institutions, accounting for an estimated 8% of national greenhouse gas emissions. They are also subject to mandatory environmental reporting under successive expansions of the Grenelle II framework, which requires multi-site public establishments to produce annual carbon footprints and reduction plans. Most hospitals produce these reports manually — through consultants or internal staff collecting data from fragmented systems — a process that is slow, expensive, and generates a point-in-time snapshot rather than continuous visibility.

Shadow Santé replaces that process with software that connects directly to a hospital's operational systems — energy meters, waste management logs, purchasing data — and builds a live environmental dashboard. The platform automates the regulatory reporting output and simultaneously flags the consumption areas where operational changes would have the largest impact on both emissions and cost.

The self-funding model

Shadow Santé's commercial framing goes beyond compliance: it argues that the savings generated by identifying high-consumption areas can offset the platform cost, making the environmental transition self-funding for hospitals operating under constrained public budgets. Whether that claim holds at scale — across the heterogeneous procurement structures of French public and private healthcare — will determine whether Shadow Santé can sell to cost-focused hospital finance committees rather than only to sustainability directors with dedicated mandates.

The capital will accelerate commercial development in France and fund an initial push into international markets. No specific target countries were disclosed.
