We are moving from a battlefield governed by words to a battlefield governed by mathematics. Operations where orders were given by speech and text are giving way to operations where perception, decision and action are defined and executed by algorithms.

Paris-based Comand AI has raised a €32 million Series A led by Blossom Capital, with a strategic investment from Swedish defence prime Saab and renewed participation from Expeditions. Announced at the Eurosatory defence exhibition, it is one of the larger early-stage rounds in Europe's fast-growing defence-tech wave, and follows a roughly €8.5 million earlier raise.

Software for commanding operations

Comand AI's product, Prevail, is an AI-native workspace for running military operations. It is structured around what the company calls a "digital command staff" — a set of specialised AI agents covering tasks such as mission analysis, generating courses of action, tactical control and after-action review. The pitch is to replace slower, document-and-voice-driven command workflows with software, in a domain where most armed forces still run on systems designed decades ago.

Co-founder and CEO Loïc Mougeolle frames the shift in stark terms — a move "from a battlefield governed by words to a battlefield governed by mathematics," where perception, decision and action are increasingly defined and executed by algorithms. It is a claim that captures both the appeal of the category to investors and the unease that surrounds the automation of military decision-making.

Deployments and a prime-contractor tie-up

The company says Prevail has been deployed with operational units in France, Germany, Ukraine and other allied nations over the past twelve months. The Saab investment comes with a partnership to integrate Prevail into the prime's GlobalEye airborne early-warning aircraft and its next-generation command-and-control ecosystem — the kind of incumbent validation that early defence-software startups rarely secure at Series A.

The capital funds continued deployment across France and wider NATO markets, further development with operational units, industrialisation of the platform for adoption at scale, and expansion into new domains: air, already under way, and maritime, targeted before the end of the year.

This round opens ProYarn's coverage of the aerospace, security and defence sector — now among the most active corners of European venture, and one we will report on the same way as the rest: by the numbers, the backers, and what each deal signals about where the market is heading.
