“In countries such as Japan, Germany and the UK, periodic health checks are already embedded in the healthcare system, but unfortunately that is not yet the case in the Netherlands. By gaining earlier insight into their health, people can stay healthy for longer and health issues can be prevented. With our affordable health checkup, we aim to make prevention more accessible to many people.”
Onno Huyghe — CEO and co-founder, Blue Health Intelligence

Blue Health Intelligence (Amsterdam) has raised €3.4 million led by Knop Investments, with participation from Jeroen Tas (former Chief Innovation and Strategy Officer at Philips) and Anna Nooshin (Dutch entrepreneur and investor). The round, which follows a prior raise of over €1.1 million, funds international expansion and product development. The company was founded in 2025 by Onno Huyghe — formerly CCO at Swapfiets and Tibber — and Leanne Verdonck, a physician and healthcare entrepreneur.

The company's product is a 360-degree health check completed in one hour at €299. The session covers hundreds of data points across cardiovascular health, metabolism, liver and kidney function; results are reviewed immediately with a doctor on-site and uploaded to a patient app.

A structural gap in Dutch healthcare

The Netherlands runs no systematic programme of periodic health checks for working-age adults, unlike Germany, the UK, or Japan where such checks are embedded in the public health system or covered by insurers. Blue Health is positioning itself in that gap — not as a luxury wellness product but as an affordable early-detection service. Jeroen Tas's involvement, given his background running healthcare innovation at Philips, adds domain credibility beyond the financial backing.

The Amsterdam location opened in 2025. Early traction: over 2,000 bookings, with the location fully booked through November 2026, according to lead investor Maurits Koning of Knop Investments. At €299 per check and an appointment-driven model, that is a concrete revenue run rate within a year of launch for a company founded in 2025.

The expansion test

The raise targets two international openings: Paris and Milan in H1 2027. Both are cities with high concentrations of cost-sensitive but health-conscious working professionals willing to pay out of pocket for healthcare not covered by national systems — a similar profile to Blue Health's Amsterdam base. The execution challenge is replicating the model in markets where Blue Health has no brand, no patient base, and no local regulatory familiarity.

At €3.4 million for a company that must open and staff physical locations in two new cities, the capital is tight for the stated ambition. A successful 2027 international launch would likely support a follow-on at a meaningfully higher valuation.
