50skills raises €5.3M Series A to scale AI agents across enterprise HR workflows
AI-native HR workflow platform combining an ATS (Hire) and employee journey automation tool (Journeys), with AI agents that reconfigure their own workflows for hiring, onboarding and people operations.
“AI is changing how organisations create value. Our job is to make that practical for the teams responsible for people.”
50skills (Reykjavík) has raised €5.3 million ($6 million) in a Series A round co-led by Frumtak Ventures, Swiss Post Ventures, Avant, and DRD Investments. Founded in 2017, the company is led by Kristján Freyr Kristjánsson (CEO). The platform combines an applicant tracking system (Hire) with a no-code employee journey automation tool (Journeys), and has extended into AI agents that can reconfigure their own workflows.
The customer list — Icelandair, Blue Lagoon, Domino's, Securitas — reflects an enterprise positioning unusual for a company from Reykjavík. Over 4 million actions were logged on the platform in the past twelve months; 6 million in the first months of 2026 alone.
Agents that build agents
The platform's current pitch goes beyond executing predefined steps: the AI agents adapt based on data, and according to the company, can reconfigure workflows without engineering input. Kristján Freyr Kristjánsson frames it plainly: "AI is changing how organisations create value. Our job is to make that practical for the teams responsible for people."
Ásthildur Otharsdóttir, board chair, adds: "50skills has turned years of customer feedback into a platform organisations run their people operations on every day."
The Series A with four co-leads is unusual but interpretable. Frumtak Ventures is Iceland's most active institutional VC. Swiss Post's venture arm investing in HR automation signals that postal and logistics operators see people-workflow software as strategic infrastructure. Avant and DRD Investments complete a cap table spanning Nordic institutional, Swiss corporate, and regional growth capital.
What the round must prove
The €5.3 million goes toward scaling the AI operating system across enterprise customers. The metric that matters is not user count but ARR per account: Securitas alone operates across dozens of countries, and its expansion potential dwarfs most SMB customer cohorts.
The self-configuring agent claim is the one to watch. If the agents genuinely reduce the engineering overhead of workflow configuration, 50skills has a structural advantage over competitors. If they require the same professional services effort as legacy HRIS, the differentiation stays rhetorical. Whether 50skills can also expand beyond its current Nordic and logistics-sector depth is the question the round's investors have priced an answer to.
