The wire — 13 September 2026

in𝕏

Three rounds from earlier this week that ran below the wire's coverage window. No news broke on Saturday or Sunday — European startup funding desks are idle on weekends, and the pipeline is what it is. The desk is collecting the week's loose ends before the weekly thread. All three are annotated to their announcement dates, not to today.

The honest thread across the three, if one exists, is this: each company is building the layer that must exist before a sector's visible transformation can actually proceed. Not the product that makes the headline — the infrastructure that makes the headline product possible. Arlequin AI before organisations can act on the intelligence locked inside their complex data. IVEX before ADAS certification scales to match the vehicles being built. FRYTE before eTruck electrification becomes operationally viable at fleet scale. Infrastructure rounds tend to be quieter than application rounds; they also tend to be stickier.

Arlequin AI (Paris, September 10) leads by amount with a €28 million Series A co-led by Redalpine and OTB Ventures, with Bpifrance's Defence Innovation Fund, Vsquared Ventures, 10x Founders, and Xavier Niel participating. Founded in 2024 by Hugo Micheron and Antoine Jardin, the company builds AI systems based on topological neural networks — an architecture designed to learn from relationships between data points, not just the data points themselves, capturing multi-way interactions across documents, transactions, video, and operational systems. The claimed advantage over transformer-based architectures: better performance on highly complex, interconnected datasets without proportional compute cost. Named client sectors span fraud detection, cybersecurity, information integrity, and decision intelligence for governments and large European organisations. The capital funds model development, international team growth, and a geographic push to London, Berlin, and Silicon Valley. Hugo Micheron: "Today, another revolution is taking shape: the development of new AI systems capable of understanding highly complex dynamics hidden within millions of data points." At €28M in its first two years, Arlequin is the week's biggest early-stage round.

IVEX (Heverlee, September 10) raises €5 million Series A from existing investors The Faktory and Dedicated.lu and private investors. No lead is named. Founded in 2018 as a KU Leuven spin-out by Mario Torres and Quentin de Clercq, the company applies AI and computer vision to automotive safety testing — specifically the analysis of ADAS and autonomous driving system data from on-road campaigns. The efficiency claim: 400 hours of multi-sensor driving data processed in 8 hours of engineering time. IVEX is a trusted supplier to Euro NCAP, holds six patents, and has deployed across more than 20 countries and 50 vehicle models. The Series A funds North American and Asian market entry. Mario Torres: "Vehicle safety testing generates enormous amounts of data, but much of its analysis still depends on repetitive manual work. AI and rigorous mathematical algorithms allows us to make the testing process significantly faster and more scalable while keeping engineers in control."

FRYTE Mobility (Munich, September 9) closes a €3.5 million Seed, bringing total funding to €5 million, in a round co-led by 4impact capital and Rethink Ventures, with Revent, F-LOG, accilium ventures, and angels. Founded in 2025 by Maximilian Zähringer and Sebastian Wolff (CTO), the company connects eTruck fleet management systems with charge point operators via the open OCPI standard, enabling advance booking of charging slots across providers and borders. 200 end-to-end bookings processed; live across multi-provider sites; pilot partners include TRATON/MAN and FIEGE. Revent, which also backed Tellia — the agricultural voice-data company from Tuesday's edition — makes two bets this week on open-interface software replacing fragmented coordination in sectors facing structural change. Sebastian Wolff: "Charging infrastructure only works at scale if it connects across operators, and that only happens through open standards."

All three rounds were announced Tuesday and Thursday. The weekend added nothing.
