The wire — 24 August 2026
The last full business week of August opens on both desks empty. No qualifying Seed or Series A announcement reached the desk from France or the rest of Europe on Monday 24 August — a start to the week that follows the same logic as every day since the 19th: the rounds from the prior week have been filed; the next batch is not yet in motion.
Yesterday's wire cleared a backlog from Thursday and Friday — Oshen, Eyedentity, Guideless — rounds the August 20 sweep missed and that surfaced over the weekend. The slate is current, and current is quiet. The desk is not behind; the market is simply still on pause.
Seven days remain before la rentrée — the hard restart that European tech treats as its second January. The pattern is reliable: the calendar around September 1 consistently produces compressed announcement weeks, as founders and investors who have been holding decisions since late July push them across the line before the autumn fundraising season properly opens. The week of 25–29 August will show whether the first signals arrive early or wait for September.
France has now been silent for eleven consecutive days since August 13. Coverage resumes as announcements do.
