Vocca raises $20M Series A to scale AI voice agents for medical practices across two continents

A Paris-founded AI voice platform that handles patient phone calls across more than 20 medical specialties — scheduling, triage, follow-up — reducing front-desk burden at 1,500-plus practices in the US and Europe.

Vocca (Paris) has raised $20 million (~€18.5 million) in a Series A led by Norrsken VC, with Heal Capital, Speedinvest, and Firstminute Capital participating. The company was founded in 2024 by Eliott Hoffenberg and Hugo Danet, and had previously raised a $5.5M Seed in September 2025 led by Speedinvest and Firstminute Capital. Angels in the new round include founders of Alan and Datadog.

What Vocca does

Every medical practice — GP surgery, specialist clinic, dental office — runs on the phone. Patients call to book, cancel, ask about results, request referrals, and seek advice. That call load is structurally disconnected from clinical time: doctors are with patients; receptionists handle calls in parallel, with limited clinical knowledge and variable availability. Missed calls generate callbacks, callbacks generate callbacks, and care gets delayed.

Vocca's AI voice agents handle those calls autonomously across 20-plus medical specialties. The agents are trained on specialty-specific clinical vocabulary and workflow — scheduling logic differs for an orthopaedic practice versus a mental health clinic versus a GP surgery — and operate across phone, in both English and French. The company reports more than 1 million patient interactions per month across 1,500-plus active practices in the US and Europe, a scale that places it well past proof-of-concept for a company barely two years old.

Investors and what they signal

Norrsken VC — the Stockholm impact fund, not to be confused with Norrsken Launcher or Norrsken Evolve, which have appeared in earlier ProYarn coverage of Scandinavian early-stage companies — leads the round. Norrsken's mandate is commercial impact: companies that generate returns while improving outcomes in health, climate, or access. Vocca fits the health side by reducing the friction between patients and practices.

Heal Capital, Berlin's health-tech investor, previously backed Aitiologic — AI-assisted ENT diagnostic planning that narrows the gap between imaging and clinical decision — in this archive. Vocca's Series A is Heal Capital's second ProYarn-tracked investment, broadening from diagnostics infrastructure to patient communications.

Firstminute Capital has appeared across multiple ProYarn stories: Benford (FinTech/Enterprise AI Pre-Seed), Neno (SME accounting AI Seed), and Intropy (Enterprise AI Seed, UK). The presence of Alan and Datadog founders as angels is operationally relevant: both scaled regulated software businesses across European and US markets at speed.

The expansion bet and its constraints

The $20M goes to scaling US and European market presence simultaneously — a dual-market strategy that is both the opportunity and the risk. US and European healthcare operate under substantially different regulatory frameworks, billing models, and patient consent requirements. Voice AI in clinical settings sits in a zone that regulators in both jurisdictions have not fully addressed: general communication software or regulated medical device? The answer varies by feature and by jurisdiction, and the answer shapes sales cycles, liability, and integration depth.

The 18-month test: whether 1,500 practices can become 10,000, and whether the per-practice economics hold as Vocca moves from early adopters — practices with a founder willing to implement new technology — to mainstream practices where implementation support becomes the margin risk.
