When we founded ColibriTD in 2019, our vision was to move quantum computing past academic theory and deliver tangible business value to industry. Today, we have reached an inflection point. With seven successful co-construction projects across six sectors, we have proven that quantum-powered simulation is a present capability, not a future promise. This seed round accelerates our momentum as we scale our hardware-agnostic platform to help more enterprises capture the quantum advantage.

ColibriTD (Paris) has raised €4 million in a Seed round led by Earlybird Venture Capital, with participation from SymbiaVC and Medin VC. The company was founded in 2019 by Dr. Laurent Guiraud — who held product roles at Google and AWS before turning to quantum research — and Hacène Goudjil, and builds quantum software for multiphysics simulation. Earlybird had previously invested €1 million in a pre-seed round in 2023.

ColibriTD's core product is H-DES (Hybrid Differential Equation Solver), a proprietary variational quantum algorithm designed to solve partial differential equations (PDEs). PDEs are the mathematical foundation of simulation in every engineering-intensive industry: they describe fluid flow, material deformation, heat transfer, electromagnetic fields, and financial risk. Classical simulation of complex PDE systems is computationally expensive at the parameter counts that industrial engineering actually requires. ColibriTD's approach uses quantum circuits to compute PDE solutions more efficiently — and builds a software layer that is hardware-agnostic, running on current IBM quantum computers and designed to port to future architectures.

Seven projects, six sectors

The company has completed seven co-construction projects across six industrial sectors: aerospace, semiconductors, nuclear energy, automotive engineering, and finance, with a sixth unnamed. These are not pilots in the academic sense — they are collaborative problem-solving engagements with industrial organisations that bring real computational problems and participate in developing the quantum solution alongside the ColibriTD team. The model is closer to industrial R&D services than to SaaS; the Series A question will be whether those engagements convert to recurring software licenses at scale.

Laurent Guiraud: "When we founded ColibriTD in 2019, our vision was to move quantum computing past academic theory and deliver tangible business value to industry. Today, we have reached an inflection point. With seven successful co-construction projects across six sectors, we have proven that quantum-powered simulation is a present capability, not a future promise."

Earlybird's quantum positioning

Earlybird Venture Capital's lead here is not its first quantum move in recent ProYarn-tracked coverage. In July 2026, Earlybird participated in QuantumDiamonds' €91M round — a Munich company using quantum sensing for semiconductor chip inspection. Two quantum investments within six weeks — one at the hardware-adjacent sensing layer, one at the software simulation layer — signals a deliberate portfolio position across the quantum value chain.

Dr. Frédéric Du Bois-Reymond, Venture Partner at Earlybird: "Hardware may unlock quantum computing, but software determines where its value is created. ColibriTD has built a differentiated software platform with the scientific credibility and industrial traction to become the decision layer for quantum applications."

The €4M is small for a 2026 Seed round. That is either precision — raising only what is needed to reach the next algorithm milestone or hardware partnership — or a reflection of a quantum software market that has not yet reached the valuations commanded by AI software at comparable revenue stages. France broke a fifteen-day funding silence with this announcement.
