ANote Music raises €2M to expand Europe's only regulated music royalties marketplace
EU-regulated marketplace with a primary auction market and live secondary order book that lets rights holders monetise their music royalties and lets investors receive recurring royalty income from top-performing catalogues.
“Music royalties have been one of the most resilient income streams in finance, and one of the hardest for ordinary investors to reach. We built ANote to close that gap: fair, transparent valuations for the rights holders who sell, and recurring royalty income for the people who buy. Seventure and ScaleFund let us do that for a far larger market.”
ANote Music (Luxembourg City) has raised €2 million in a round led by Seventure Partners alongside ScaleFund, with participation from existing investors and shareholders. The company operates an EU-regulated marketplace for music royalties — enabling rights holders to sell fractions of their future royalty income and investors to receive recurring payments from those catalogues.
Music royalties as a financial instrument
ANote's platform functions like a regulated exchange for music rights. Rights holders — labels, publishers, songwriters, artists — can auction a portion of their future royalties through a primary market at fair-market terms, rather than in the opaque private transactions that have historically governed catalogue sales. Investors can purchase royalty interests and receive distributions as streaming, sync, and performance income flows through.
The company launched in 2020 after its founding in 2018 and has since built what it describes as a full market infrastructure: a primary auction market, a live secondary order book (so investors can trade positions without waiting for new primary listings), and an automated royalties engine that processes and distributes income from the catalogues.
At announcement, ANote reports more than 100,000 songs across 36 listed catalogues, 52,000 user accounts, and over €28 million in cumulative transaction value. Catalogues include rights associated with The Kinks, Beyoncé, The Who, Backstreet Boys, Justin Bieber, Britney Spears, Drake, and Avicii.
Infrastructure over brand
David Manjarres, General Partner and Head of ICT at Seventure Partners, framed the investment thesis around infrastructure rather than marketplace liquidity alone: "To unlock a global asset class, you need flawless infrastructure, not just a platform. ANote has engineered the definitive financial plumbing for music royalties. Bringing primary auctions, a live secondary order book, and an automated distribution engine under one roof is a rare technical feat."
Capital from the round will fund three priorities: expanding the catalogue of royalty assets available on the platform by working with labels, publishers, and songwriters; growing ANote's marketing and user acquisition across Europe, targeting both individual investors and professional clients; and continuing R&D on the platform and mobile applications.
The platform operates under EU financial regulation — a critical differentiator for an instrument that would otherwise live outside the regulated investment universe accessible to retail investors.
