The wire — 29 August 2026

Saturday clears what Friday left unprocessed. Three rounds announced during the week — two on Tuesday, one on Friday — appeared in EU Startups and specialist media on August 28, after yesterday's brief had already gone out. No single thread connects them. French dental robotics, German biotech drug discovery, Dutch AI hearing care: three sectors, three countries, three different timelines to clinical or commercial impact. The honest shape of the day is a collection of late arrivals, not a theme.

Lupin Dental (Montpellier, €15M Series A, led by Fynveur with €10M, plus a Bpifrance loan) is a dental robotics company whose supervised robotic system performs minimally invasive tooth preparation for aesthetic veneers. The product is live and cleared for clinical use in the UK and India; EU and US approval is pending. Co-founders Dr. Galip Gürel and Dr. Stefen Koubi are internationally recognised dental clinicians. Invus, advising Fynveur, joins the board — a US network with potential relevance when the FDA becomes a target. The €15M is primarily a regulatory and evidence-building cheque: without EU MDR clearance, the European market is closed. The Bpifrance loan is a non-dilutive layer that signals technical maturity. Separately, Friday also saw Pasqal — France's leading quantum hardware company — list on the Nasdaq with €309M in cash, a milestone beyond ProYarn's early-stage scope but worth noting as the French quantum ecosystem's clearest public-market signal yet.

Revier Therapeutics (Heidelberg, €6M Seed, led by KHAN Technology Transfer Fund II, with High-Tech Gründerfonds, VORNvc, and Revier Invest Heidelberg) launched on 25 August with its Seed financing. The company is developing selective class IIa HDAC inhibitors for HFpEF (heart failure with preserved ejection fraction) and ASCVD (atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease). HFpEF is the more compelling target: it affects roughly half of all heart failure patients and has no approved disease-modifying therapy. Co-founders Prof. Eva van Rooij and Prof. Johannes Backs come directly from cardiovascular biology research at Heidelberg University Hospital. HTGF's participation extends a pattern: the fund has now appeared in ProYarn coverage for the second time in two months, following kausable (July 2026). €6M covers preclinical work; a clinical readout is three to four years away.

Clementine (Maastricht, $2M / €1.7M Seed, led by Healthy.Capital) is an AI hearing activation platform founded in 2024 by Vince van de Weijer. Its AI agent, Matthew, answers patient inquiries 24/7, addresses the emotional and practical barriers to seeking hearing care, and books appointments for clinics. The market problem is documented: roughly 80% of people with treatable hearing loss never seek treatment. The product is already in commercial use via a partnership with Zoolstra, covering US and Canadian hearing clinics. At €1.7M, this is a first-check thesis bet on domain-specific AI in healthcare access.

Three healthcare rounds from three countries, landing on a quiet Saturday. €22.7M in aggregate across two late-week and one Friday announcement.
