The wire — 3 August 2026
A full research cycle ran this morning across EU-Startups, Maddyness, FrenchWeb, Sifted, Tech.eu, ArcticStartup and a broad sweep of company press releases. No qualifying early-stage rounds for 3 August cleared the two-source verification bar — for France or for the rest of Europe.
August is a structural quiet. The first Monday of August marks the heart of the French grandes vacances: historically the single slowest month in the European VC calendar. Maddyness' own data shows August routinely accounting for under €50 million in French early-stage volume — less than a busy single week in June. Investors, founders, and the PR teams that file announcements largely step out between now and la rentrée in the first week of September. The signal today is not missing data; it is the market doing what it always does this week.
No rounds that surfaced in today's sweep could be confirmed by a second independent source. ArcticStartup's most recent dateline is 2 August (Finland's Treon, €6.8 million IoT round); EU-Startups and Tech.eu are current through 31 July. Nothing new cleared by this morning's close.
The next edition will run tomorrow, 4 August.
